USGenWeb to Celebrate at Conference

As you may have already read, the Federation of Genealogical Societies will be celebrating its 30th anniversary at the 2006 FGS/NEHGS Conference. The USGenWeb Project will also be celebrating an anniversary, its 10th. In honor of this anniversary, USGenWeb is sponsoring a track of lectures at the conference, having special events for its members, and also marking the occasion with a 10th Anniversary Celebration Luncheon.

As with any of the meal functions at the conference, anyone can purchase a ticket to attend. You don’t have to be a member of the sponsoring organization.

The USGenWeb Project offers free online access to a wealth of historical and genealogical information. The work is all done by volunteers. You may find an index to a county history, maybe even the county history itself, cemetery record and/or tombstone transcriptions, census indexes, indexes to vital records, links to other helpful information – and these are just a few of what it may share for your U.S. locality.

In total, there are 20 USGenWeb sponsored events scheduled for the conference. Lecture topics include secrets of Website maintenance, how to put data online, copyright, hidden treasures, and partnering with genealogical societies. Help USGenWeb celebrate at the 2006 Conference!
